An AI assistant connected to veldhost can do more than look things up: it can order things for your account, a new site, email on your domain, a bigger plan or an add-on. It can never buy anything by itself. Every order it proposes waits for you (or another owner or billing member of the account) to approve it in veldhost.
How it works
- You ask your assistant, for example "set up a second site for my shop's blog" or "give me three mailboxes on example.com".
- The assistant proposes the order. veldhost checks it, prices it from the same price list as the website, and keeps it as a request. The assistant tells you the monthly price.
- Every owner and billing member of the account gets an email, and the request appears under Orders in the portal.
- You open it (veldhost asks for your password again), see exactly what changes and what it costs, and approve or decline it. Approving uses the same form, terms and payment as ordering it yourself: an account with a plan adds it to the plan and the next invoice; a new customer goes through checkout with the 14-day free trial.
- The assistant sees the outcome and carries on, for example deploying to the new site.
An unanswered request expires after 7 days. You can decline it, and the assistant can withdraw it.
What an assistant can propose
| Order | MCP tool | What you approve |
|---|---|---|
| A new site | order_new_site | A site on your plan (an extra-app charge once the plan's sites are used), or your first plan |
order_email | Email on a domain with a number of mailboxes, or more room on a domain that has email | |
| A plan change | order_plan_change | Moving between Starter and Pro, or between monthly and yearly billing |
| An add-on | order_addon | A staging copy on Starter, or a bigger data warehouse |
Registering a domain is done in the portal for now. Business plans are quoted by sales.
Turning it on: the billing permission
Ordering needs the billing permission, which is never on by default. Only an owner or a billing member of the account can give it:
- When you connect an assistant with sign-in (OAuth), the consent screen lists "Propose orders for you to approve" if the assistant asks for it.
- For a personal API token, tick billing under API & MCP.
ChatGPT's app directory does not allow selling inside an app, so ChatGPT is never given the billing permission: there it manages your hosting and sends you to the portal for anything that costs money.
Safety
- A token or an assistant can never pay, and never sees or asks for card details: payment only happens on veldhost's own pages.
- Each request records which assistant asked and who approved it, in your account's audit log.
- If you get an order email you did not expect, decline it and check Security → Connected apps to see which apps can act for you.
