Germany is close enough to feel local — and we say by how much.
Falkenstein to Riga is roughly 1,200 km. We measured the round trip from our production host to a Riga-hosted nameserver at 34 ms on 9 September 2026 — well under 50 ms. For a shop or a business site, the time your visitors notice is the application rendering the page and the images it loads, not the wire; both are things we tune on every site.

Business customers: our DPA already permits Hetzner’s Helsinki datacenter as a location. There is no node there today; ask and we will quote it per order.
Already hosting in Latvia: EcoTrend, a Latvian drinks brand, runs its web shop at zavetaji.lv on veldhost — DNS, hosting and deploys — with the company’s permission to say so.

Is veldhost a good host for a web shop in Latvia?
For a shop that wants one accountable operator inside the EU, yes — with three caveats stated plainly. Your shop runs in Germany, about 34 ms from Riga, which is fine for a shop and not the same as a server in Riga. Support is in English, Dutch and Latvian — the founder speaks it — though our contracts are in English and Dutch. And we are a young company in a public testing phase: ordering opens 1 October 2026, and our track record is the public status page, the restore drill and the published contracts, not years of history. The apps page lists which shop platforms are available today and which are still in progress, and we do not mark anything available before it has been run end to end.
Where will my data be?
In Falkenstein, Germany, with every backup replicated nightly to Nuremberg. Both are EU datacenters on servers we rent from Hetzner and operate ourselves. Nothing is served through a US hyperscaler or CDN.
Can I register a .lv, .lt or .ee domain with you?
.lt, yes. .lv and .ee are not yet in our registrar contracts, so keep them at your current registrar and point them at our nameservers — DNS hosting, DNSSEC and email work for any domain, wherever it is registered. .eu, .com and the other European TLDs we offer can be registered or transferred in directly.
Will my accountant accept the invoice?
You receive an EU invoice from a Dutch company with its KvK and VAT numbers on it. Businesses with a valid EU VAT number are invoiced with VAT reverse-charged (0%) and account for VAT in their own country; consumers see VAT at checkout.
Do you offer support in Latvian, Lithuanian or Estonian?
Latvian, yes: the founder is a Latvian speaker, so support by email works in Latvian as well as English and Dutch, with a first reply within one business day. Lithuanian and Estonian are not offered. Contracts and documentation are in English and Dutch.
Can I get a server closer to the Baltics?
Not today. Our Data Processing Agreement already lists Hetzner’s Helsinki datacenter as a permitted location, so a Business customer can ask about a Finland region; we would set it up per order rather than promise a date here.
