What is installed
WordPress, ready when your site is.
Pick WordPress when you add a site and it comes up installed and running, with its own database. Your site page shows the admin address, the username and a generated password.
Installed, not a wizard.
WordPress is installed in one click with object caching, image tooling and real cron: scheduled tasks run on time instead of waiting for a visitor to trigger them.
A second lock on wp-admin.
An admin gate (HTTP basic auth) sits in front of the WordPress login, so password-guessing bots never reach it. XML-RPC answers 403, the REST batch endpoint is blocked, and the login page is rate-limited underneath.
Your choice of PHP version.
PHP 8.2, 8.3, 8.4 and 8.5 are offered. Switch on the site’s PHP tab; it takes effect within a minute, and you can switch back just as easily.
A shop, set up for the EU.
Choose WooCommerce and you get WordPress with WooCommerce and the Storefront theme installed and configured: EUR, prices including VAT, guest checkout on, usage tracking off, no demo products.

Weekly backups on every plan.
Every restore point is a complete snapshot: all your files plus a full database dump, encrypted and copied to a second location. Want a backup every day? Daily backups with 30-day retention are an add-on at €4 a month per site (ex VAT).
Staging
Try the update on a copy first.
A staging copy is an exact duplicate of your site — files and database — at its own password-protected address that search engines are told to skip. Rehearse a theme change or a WooCommerce update there; your live site never notices. Included with Pro and Business; on Starter it is €5 a month (ex VAT) until you remove it.

Location
Where are the servers?
In Germany — Falkenstein and Nuremberg — not in the Netherlands. veldhost is a Dutch company in Enschede; the servers are rented from Hetzner, a German provider, and operated entirely by us. There is no reseller and no US cloud provider in between.
Our processor agreement also permits Hetzner’s Finnish region, which is in the EU too. The sub-processors are listed in the Data Processing Agreement; what that means for your own GDPR duties is in our GDPR hosting guide.

Who updates WordPress, plugins and themes?
WordPress core installs its own security releases automatically, and the server and platform underneath are patched automatically. Plugins and themes are yours: you choose them and you update them. Fewer is better, and before a big update you can take a backup in one click or rehearse it on a staging copy.

Can you move my existing WordPress site?
Yes, free, on every plan. We copy your files, database, email and DNS, put the site on a preview address so you can check it, and only then switch your domain over.
Where are the servers?
In Germany, in Falkenstein and Nuremberg, on servers rented from Hetzner and operated by us. Our Data Processing Agreement also permits Hetzner’s Finnish region, which is in the EU as well.
How does the free trial work?
Every hosting plan starts with a 14-day free trial. A card is required to start, you are not charged until the trial ends, and if you cancel during the trial you pay nothing.
