Antagonist and veldhost are both based in Enschede. Antagonist has hosted websites since 2004 and offers web hosting it describes as managed, with unlimited email accounts, frequent backups and domain names. veldhost is a much smaller, newer host that runs managed hosting on servers in Germany and moves your site for you. When Antagonist is the better choice
- You want unlimited email accounts in the package. With us each mailbox is €2 a month extra.
- You want frequent backups included: Slim keeps a backup every 2 hours for the last day. Ours are weekly, daily as an add-on.
- You want more storage: Slim has 50 GB, our Starter 10 GB.
- You want domain registration from the same provider. We do not sell domain names.
- You want a provider with a long track record: Antagonist has been around since 2004; veldhost is new.
- You prefer a yearly agreement that never renews without asking you.
When veldhost fits better
- You want the move included in the price: our migration of site, database, mailboxes and DNS is free on every plan.
- You need one site with few or no mailboxes and want one price from the start: Starter is €5 a month ex VAT, with no introductory rate.
- You want more than PHP and HTML: one container per site, a SQL workbench, warehouse and dashboards over your site data, and an API and MCP server for AI assistants.
- You want to try it free for 14 days before paying anything.
Switching
Switching from Antagonist to veldhost
Your old hosting keeps running until you are happy. The move is free on every plan.
- Pick a plan and start the 14-day free trial. Your site at Antagonist keeps running as it is.
- Request a free migration with the form, or import it yourself: upload a backup (a plugin export, or your files plus a database export), paste a download link, or let the importer pull it over SFTP.
- We copy files, database and mailboxes and put the site on a preview address. Nothing changes at Antagonist yet.
- Check the preview. Then point your domain at us: the domain stays registered where it is, you only change its nameservers, and the dashboard copies your existing DNS records first.
- Once the site runs and your email arrives here, cancel the hosting at Antagonist, but keep the domain registration: we do not sell domain names.
Moving from Antagonist: export your site with a backup plugin or download the files and databases over SSH, or let us fetch it. Antagonist asks you every year whether you want to renew, so you can simply not renew the hosting once you have moved.

Questions about Antagonist and veldhost
Is veldhost cheaper than Antagonist?
Ex VAT: veldhost Starter is €5 a month from the first month, with 10 GB storage and mailboxes at €2 each. Antagonist Slim is €5.55 a month in the first year and €9.99 after that, with 50 GB and unlimited email accounts (checked on 2 October 2026). With several mailboxes or a lot of data, Antagonist offers more for the money.
Are veldhost and Antagonist the same company?
No. Both happen to be based in Enschede, but they are separate, unrelated businesses.
Can I keep my domain name at Antagonist?
Yes. We do not sell domain names, so your domain stays registered where it is. You only point its DNS at us: the dashboard copies your current records first and tells you which nameservers to enter. Keep paying Antagonist (or any registrar) for the domain registration itself.
Do you move my email as well?
Yes. The free migration covers your files, database, mailboxes and DNS. On veldhost each mailbox is an add-on of €2 a month ex VAT, so count the mailboxes you really use before you switch.
Is veldhost connected to Antagonist?
